Sure, the Terrans are worthless when it comes to antigravity technology, but that isn’t the only thing that matters.
OK, so of the list we can, by 2030, get the autofac/replicators & intelligent robots. And we don’t even have nanites yet – imagine what we can do once they are available.
We still need some kind of fusion – conventional or cold – but I am hopeful on that score. Antimatter would work, too, if the cost of production and handling can be driven low enough. Or even really efficient solar energy…
We have enough geneering tech to at least sketch out a new biosphere. (The mass-produced robots of future decades – “printed” out, or “grown” by nanites – will be very useful here.) And I have no doubt that future biotech advances are going to be amazing by A.D. 2050.
So, all we need is cheap FTL, and cheap terraforming tech, and off to the stars we go!
